Unified Communications solutions
In the heart of Birmingham, 3 Arena Central is a new 13-floor office building built and the 9th HMRC regional centre to be opened as part of the Government Hub network and to help support the government’s Places for Growth Programmes.
For this project, proAV was engaged to develop and implement all the audio visual and unified communications solutions for the Birmingham centre to help HMRC create a workplace environment that was flexible, inclusive, and offered the latest technologies.
A variety of key spaces needed dedicated AV facilities across all 13 floors, including 35 meeting rooms, 40 huddle booths, 8 semi-enclosed collaboration spaces, control rooms and main communal spots like reception areas and café. Specialised areas of the offices also included dedicated hearing rooms to allow HMRC solicitors to provide evidence to court hearings securely without having to do long-distance travel.
In addition to the main office spaces, the new regional hub featured its own dedicated conference facility known as the Business Events Centre (BEC). Technologies to be implemented in the BEC would need to cover 10 rooms, accommodating over 200 attendees in total with suitable AV facilities to cater to different event types. This would allow HMRC to use this specialised conference centre to run events without having to source external venues or take attendees into the main offices.
Our solution
proAV installed NEC displays across the key collaborative areas of the offices. Larger meeting rooms feature ClearOne PTZ cameras, Poly speakerphones and Earthworks Omni Boundary microphones; smaller meeting rooms were equipped with Logitech HD and Poly speakerphones. Crestron AV control panels were installed to handle the main AV operations of each meeting room. Semi-enclosed collaboration spaces and huddle booths feature smaller 32” NEC displays supported by Crestron AV and Media controllers.
HMRC’s Quad Divisible Meeting Room features enhanced audio solutions for its collaboration spaces. Each divisible room was equipped with Shure MX910 ceiling and handheld microphones along with Tannoy ceiling speakers. For audio requirements, handheld Shure microphones and wireless transmitters were also included. The overall AV of the room, featuring NEC displays was controlled by a Crestron 3-Series system.
