proAV were commissioned by main contractors Ardmore and AV consultants Blend, to install the extensive audio systems throughout the 11 storey hotel, bars and restaurants to complement the 1920s and 1930s interior design, furniture and décor.
The property had been empty for nearly eight years and clear
instructions were set from the start of the project regarding the
buildings listed status and how our project team could operate and
install these audio visual solutions without disturbing the
original fittings and furnishings. For example, the marble cladding
is an integral feature of the building’s interior design and for
any installation works to be completed, the cladding had to be
carefully removed and replaced back as found.
The technologies that feature in this high profile project are highlighted below:
67 locations/spaces – inc. 9 restaurants, rooftop pool, gym, spa, bar areas and members club
- Meeting rooms with LFD screens
- Lobby and 6 private event spaces
- Spinning studio and integrated sound system
- Hidden ‘Intellivox’ JBL speakers
- Custom hand painted finishes on speakers
- Custom bracketry designed and installed to protect listed finishes e.g. marble columns and cladding
- BSS Audio system
- Centralised Crestron control
- Networked Dante audio solution
- Extensive Satellite & TV distribution solution to cover all global regions of TV broadcasts
The project was an interesting and exciting challenge and by working closely with the consultant and main contractor we have delivered a future-proofed audio solution that evolved and adapted during the course of the design specification. The end result is
a brilliant example of how a traditional building with 1920s styling and décor, meets modern day technology to enhance the guest experience.
‘Intellivox’ digitally controllable JBL speakers, make it
possible to control the vertical directivity pattern and aim the
sound at the listener and maintain even sound distribution
throughout a given area. Going a step beyond today’s standard beam
steering, JBL’s DDS (Digital Directivity Synthesis) technology
allows for full control of near field and far field coverage
creating an asymmetric vertical beam contoured specifically to an
application.
The Ned’s subtle yet powerful audio visual systems are being
used every day by the hotel and providing a range of benefits,
including:
- State-of-the-art audio systems for professional background music distribution
- Improved and enhanced guest experiences
- Return on investment opportunities to advertise the hire of private event spaces with hospitality facilities
- Extensive TV channel broadcasts from around the world
- Leading luxury hotel in the centre of London‘s financial district
