Introduction

Our client is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious automobile manufacturers specialising in high-performance sports cars, SUVs and saloon models.  Porsche is headquartered in Stuttgart with a truly global brand and reach, with a presence across most countries around the world.  With an overall strategy that’s focused on its people and customers, Porsche has an underlying drive to invest in innovative technologies and new products in order to be seen as a market leader.

The brief

proAV is a strategic partner of Porsche and, when the organisation announced the new refurbishment of its London showroom and Silverstone Customer Experience Centre, future-proofed technology was a key requirement. proAV was commissioned to design and integrate an audio visual solution that would enhance the customer experience and encourage user interaction and engagement across a range of the latest AV technologies.

The key areas in the showroom refurbishment project were the main showroom space on the ground and first floors, a video wall ‘theatre’ area, specification rooms, handover bays and the boardroom. Meanwhile, the Experience Centre demanded a range of forward-thinking AV systems across its open plan spaces, which included a café, customer briefing floor, an additional video wall ‘theatre’ area and a private demo bay.

Display technology remained at the forefront of this AV project in order to showcase the diverse library of multimedia assets and to provide the centre’s visitors with an unrivalled customer experience.  A range of LFD screens in various sizes were installed across both sites to provide tailored content to suit the relevant area of the showroom or Experience Centre.  In the Specification Room and the Point of Sale desks, various multimedia is now displayed to help provide the customer with personalised information on the vehicle they are interested in.

The video walls comprise a 55” panel array in 3 x 3 configuration to play back historical footage, event and race stories as well as general advertisements that promote this luxury brand.  Each area of the showroom features music and audio playback via a centralised Bose audio distribution system, which has been carefully selected to support the content featured on screen.

Crestron DigitalMedia infrastructure

The Crestron DigitalMedia infrastructure was chosen for its streaming capabilities that enable high-definition signal distribution over an existing infrastructure, removing any distance limitations and allowing for the routing of signals wherever new wires cannot be run.  DigitalMedia intelligently manages all signals and devices, matching each source’s output to the capabilities of the selected display(s).

As Porsche has a mixture of 4K Ultra HD and full HD displays, the infrastructure needed to be ready for distribution and support of 4K content and a complete range of devices to enable reliable 4K matrix switching using Crestron 4K certified sources and displays.  This infrastructure is ideal for the client as it enables applications such as digital signage, mobile device connectivity and signal routing between buildings or multi-site offices.

Support Services

Both the London Showroom and Customer Experience Centre are underpinned by proAV’s Support Services division and other key sites are supported via a comprehensive SLA.

On-site technologies and support are also provided for the British Grand Prix event as well as additional bespoke event assistance when required.
