The project brief

Having undertaken a substantial rebranding exercise, proAV was commissioned to create a professional, integrated AV scheme, delivering multiple, networked display systems, digital signage, IPTV and full Video on Demand (VoD) capability. This future-proof solution was installed in various areas around the stadium, including the main concourse, within 52 food and beverage concessions, conference & banqueting lounges and hospitality suites. In addition, further audio visual facilities were installed at City’s London office and New York City FC’s Manhattan offices to enable content to be shared across continents.

proAV worked closely with City to evaluate a number of solutions with the marketplace and identified Tripleplay Services Ltd, product suite as being the most capable solution of meeting the club’s short and long term objectives.

proAV installed 373 LED screens from 32” to 55” in size across the stadium’s 52 food and beverage concessions. Screens displayed networked digital signage content with each screen running as an independent channel and displaying information specific to each concession. The Tripleplay signage system is linked to each unit’s EPOS system for dynamic pricing to reflect instant price changes, special offers or menu changes; this rapid flow of information enables concessions to control stock and minimise wastage, thus offering excellent ROI potential.

IPTV and associated TriplePlay software were installed to offer streaming on the 120 new and legacy displays that were positioned on the concourse and within banqueting lounges and hospitality suites. These screens are networked and also individually addressable to present a wide range of TV channels and dynamic customised content during match days and other events. VoD was delivered to allow users to stream content from the Club’s video library onto screens within the lounges and suites.

The Tripleplay solution has been a key element in the success of project, providing a single easy to use platform for the management and control of screens and content. The system provides 267 independent channels of digital signage, 16 IPTV channels capable of being delivered all 373 screens, video-on-demand, power management allowing all screens to be turned on/off remotely.

Central to the success of proAV’s powerful AV solution is its future proofing and the significant fan engagement opportunities and tangible ROI benefits in terms of advertising revenue and events that are now being realised.

The key technologies that feature in this high profile project are highlighted below:

  • 373 LED displays

In summary...

Central to the success of proAV’s powerful AV solution is its futureproofing; the system has been designed to accommodate a further 370 display screens to the new City Football Academy, a world class sports facility and global centre of excellence due for completion in late 2014, without compromising any element of the AV scheme or its capabilities.

The club’s hospitality facilities are now significantly enhanced - within the hospitality lounges proAV redeveloped the system by providing wireless tablets for hospitality managers to change TV channel on specific screens on request.  For non-match day events, any combination of screens displaying corporate branding, logos or event-specific content is available.
