Award-winning AV solutions for education

One of proAV's flagship education projects, the Art and Design Academy at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) has won the World Architecture News (WAN) Education Sector Award 2010.

As proAV's presence in the education sector continues to dominate AV industry headlines, so the calibre of projects has become increasingly sophisticated. The dramatic scale and radical contemporary design of the new LJMU building were features that Europe's leading AV integrator approached with excitement and enthusiasm throughout the design process.

proAV installed extensive audio visual systems at the state-of-the-art academy which is set in the heart of Liverpool's creative quarter. A wide range of conferencing and presentation equipment was deployed, including high-impact display systems, audio and video conferencing, lecture and multimedia presentation facilities alongside a dynamic digital signage network.

The bi-monthly international WAN Awards are judged by a panel of experts from the architectural industry and market sectors who are tasked with recognising excellence in architectural design in key sectors.

Rick Mather Architects, who produced the new Art and Design Academy scheme, scooped the top prize in the built category following a record number of entries and received glowing praise from WAN.

'As a regular onlooker and frequent panel member, it becomes easier to detect the winners in the making,' revealed Michael Hammond, WAN Editor in Chief. 'One sure sign is the far-away looks that judges emit as they get drawn deeper into the corridors and classrooms that make up the schools and colleges on offer. Another is the excited chatter that bursts out when a hot contender hits the table.

'But the real defining moment in a session comes when a member of the jury breaks ranks and stakes his colours to the mast and claims, 'this one does it for me, this is my winner!' or some such words. It's a great moment and often a watershed for others to come out and fight for their favourites. On this day, Liverpool won four : one.'

Congratulations to a magnificent winning team!
