proAV wins big with MediaCityUK
06/05/2011
proAV has been awarded the contract to equip the University of Salford’s prestigious MediaCityUK digital learning, teaching and research space with AV technologies in a fiercely contested race that saw off competition from the country’s leading AV integrators.
The project, awarded by main contractor, Overbury plc, will see proAV systems deployed throughout more than 40 areas of the site, that sits at the heart of six national BBC departments and hundreds of independent creative, digital and media organisations.
The Salford Quays development is one of the UK’s largest media sites for technology outside London and will present more than 1500 University of Salford students with opportunities to work with media professionals in some of the best-equipped studios and labs in the industry.
“Our AV technologies will be inspiring and educating a new generation of creative students in an environment where interdisciplinary relationships and groundbreaking teaching methods will thrive”
proAV will equip meeting rooms, lecture theatres and seminar rooms on three floors of the university building with audio and video conferencing, display, multimedia presentation and communication technologies. This is the only building at MediaCityUK that has a space for everyone to use and which will welcome over 30,000 people each year during a vast schedule of public events.
a brave new world
‘We’re delighted to have been awarded such a high profile contract,’ confirms Heidi Roper, Education Account Manager at proAV. ‘The University of Salford is heralding this project as ‘a community where collaborative relationships can grow and flourish…in a brave new world which will require talented people from different disciplines to work together’.
‘Our AV technologies will be inspiring and educating a new generation of creative students in an environment where interdisciplinary relationships and groundbreaking teaching methods will thrive.’
The University of Salford will open the MediaCityUK facility in 2011.
