West Midlands Police

Birmingham, UK

West Midlands Police is the second largest police force in the UK and serves a population of almost 2.6 million. The region covered sits at the heart of the country and incorporates the three major centres of Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton.

Comprising ten local policing units (LPUs) which are divided into 171 neighbourhoods, each with its own policing team, the West Midlands Police force deals with more than 2,000 emergency calls every day. Each LPU is headed by a Chief Superintendent who is responsible for the overall policing and management of the entire area.

The West Midland Police ‘Tally Ho’ Learning and Development Resource Centre is based in Edgbaston, Birmingham. proAV was invited to deliver an extensive, high quality audio visual solution for the unit’s Events Control Suite, additional offices, conference rooms/JIC and meeting rooms.

Our AV solution comprises an outstanding range of world class technologies and equipment that has helped West Midlands Police enjoy more streamlined, interactive operations across the Learning and Development Resource Centre.Ian Wallington, proAV

State-of-the-art control, display and switching systems

A wide range of audio visual facilities were incorporated into this versatile solution, including video conferencing, projection systems, interactive whiteboards and room control systems.

proAV designed an innovative scheme for the Event Control Suite, incorporating key features that have made this a highly flexible, yet secure and easily manageable AV solution.

The primary Resource Centre facility required a complex display and switching system that could be configured to incorporate multiple sources and simultaneous displays, including Freeview TV, CCTV and desktop PCs with source distribution to the Silver Commander’s office and conference room/JIC.

In addition, a state-of-the-art control system with a comprehensive functionality and web interfacing was needed. proAV delivered a user-friendly web-based control and command system interface, accessible from designated PC workstations displaying available source and screen configurations in a simple, accessible layout.

The resulting AV solution comprises an outstanding range of world class technologies and equipment that has helped West Midlands Police enjoy more streamlined, interactive operations across the Learning and Development Resource Centre.
