Royal Bank of Scotland

The Royal Bank of Scotland Group was formed almost 300 years ago and today remains one of the largest financial services groups in the world. It operates in over 50 countries worldwide, providing retail and corporate banking, consumer finance, insurance and wealth management services to a global clientele.

proAV was commissioned to deliver an extensive suite of the highest quality audio visual technologies and equipment for the Royal Bank of Scotland's new world headquarte'Our cutting-edge technology was deployed throughout the 78 acre site and its 350,000 sq ft of office accommodation.'Richard Evans, proAVrs in Gogarburn, near Edinburgh.

We designed and installed an integrated solution comprising video and audio conferencing and fully interactive multimedia presentation systems, broadcast quality television recording and building-wide TV distribution and recording facilities.

Cutting-edge technology was deployed throughout the HQ development which occupies a 78 acre site and includes 350,000 sq ft of office accommodation.

Our design, technical and project management teams successfully delivered this world class solution on time, within budget and according to specification.

The Royal Bank of Scotland project incorporated a number of professional AV technologies, including:

Main Building

9 x Video Conferencing Rooms each equipped with the following:

  • 61" plasma display screen with speakers and camera
  • Video conferencing codec
  • Video and audio sources including VCR for recording TV and PC interface
  • Enhanced presentation, hosting and entertainment facilities for clients on the premises
  • Table microphones
  • 7" LCD colour touch screen control system with full management of audio, visual and environmental controls

5 x Video Conferencing Meeting Rooms each equipped with the following:

  • 42" plasma display screen with speakers and camera
  • Video conferencing codec
  • Video and audio sources including VCR for recording TV and PC interface
  • Table microphones
  • 7" LCD colour touch screen control system with full management of audio, visual and environmental controls

Executive Boardroom

  • 2400mm x 1800mm rear projection screen set within bespoke media wall frame
  • Video and audio sources including DVD, VCR, audio cassette, PC, laptops, TV, audio conference
  • Table and lectern microphones, front of house and ceiling speakers
  • Lectern-mounted 15" LCD colour touch screen control system with full management of audio, visual and environmental controls

Restaurant/Dining Area

  • 2 x 50" ceiling mounted plasma screens with speakers
  • 61" wall-mounted plasma screen with speakers
  • Video and audio input sources including CD and TV
  • Audio system with radio microphone system for PA announcements and 60no ceiling speakers
  • Wireless colour touch screen control system

The Street

A large zoned indoor Street area linking the buildings was equipped with the following:

  • 61" plasma screen
  • 5 x 50" plasma screens with speakers
  • Video and audio input sources including TV and flat panel speakers for reception area

Conference Centre Reception Area

  • High impact plasma display wall comprising 4 x 50" screens in 2 x 2 format, configured to display single large image or 4 independent images
  • Video and audio sources including DVD, PC, MPEG server, TV and audio, video and PC feed from auditorium
  • 12" LCD colour touch screen control system

Auditorium

300 seat multimedia presentation facility with associated control room equipped with the following:

  • Ceiling mounted high resolution SXGA video/data projector
  • 4.375m x 3.5m motorised front projection screen
  • Video conferencing codec with 4 x pan/tilt broadcast cameras, dome and gooseneck cameras
  • Video and audio input sources including DVD, DVCAM, VCR, TV, PC and associated video monitoring and programme sound
  • Video monitoring system including 14" high resolution vision monitor, 14" preview monitor, 10 x 9" video monitors, 2 x 15" SXGA preview monitors, 17" SXGA preview monitor, 2 x 5.8" triple VT preview monitors and 3 x 7" LCD video monitors for top table
  • Programme sound system including digital mixing console, digital surround sound processor with 6 x amplifiers, graphic equaliser, dual telephone hybrid with handsets, 2 x microphone head-amplifiers, CD, cassette deck, mini disk player, 3 x front of house, 12 x surround sound speakers and 3 x sub bass speakers
  • Communications and audio monitoring system including digital intercom matrix, 5 x control panels, master monitoring panel and radio base station
  • Speech reinforcement system comprising UHF radio microphone system, lectern and table microphones
  • Digital production lighting system including control desk, dimmers, luminaires and lighting bars
  • Control system including 17" TFT touch screen, LCD touch screen, touch panel, 5 x control panels and synchronised clock display

100/22 Divisible Conference Centre Meeting Rooms

2 x large divisible seminar rooms, each equipped with the AV resources to offer one main room for theatre-style presentations or two separate meeting rooms in the following configurations:

Divisible classroom with provision for independent training facilities equipped with the following:

  • Front projection system with Smartboard functionality and incorporating ceiling-mounted projector and 1.461 x 1.1092m motorised screen flanked by large whiteboards and side speakers
  • Video and audio input sources including VHS, DVD, TV, lectern interface and PC
  • DV camcorder and tripod for role-play training
  • 12" LCD touch screen control system (lectern-mounted) with computer data interface with full management of audio, visual and environmental controls

Lounge

  • 61" plasma screen mounted on mobile trolley and 50" plasma with side speakers
  • Video and audio input sources including VCR, DVD and PC

Bedrooms

68 Bedrooms each equipped with the following:

Leisure Centre Gymnasium

  • 6 x 42" plasma screens for multiscreen TV display and PC- based material
  • Central audio matrix processor with audio routing to aerobics studios
  • Audio sources including multidisc CD player, minidisc player, front of house speakers and full-range ceiling speakers
  • Wireless LCD colour touch screen control system with full management of audio controls

2 x Aerobics Studios each equipped with the following:

  • 4 x front of house wall and ceiling-mounted loudspeakers
  • Instructor wireless microphone system and wristwatch controller
  • CD/cassette combi player with stereo power amplifier

Cafe Bar

  • 2 x 42" plasma displays with speakers mounted on swing-arm brackets
  • Hard disc-based music server and audio matrix processor
  • Video and audio sources including DVD, VCR, TV
  • Wireless LCD colour touch screen control system with full management of audio controls and feed to Health Bar

Health Bar

  • Audio feed from Cafe Bar
  • Passive sub-bass with satellite loudspeaker system and audio power amplifier

TV and Broadcast Services Facility

A full-scale TV and broadcast systems facility with tape storage system, cable infrastructure to auditorium complex, equipment rack rooms and green room wrap display was equipped with the following audio visual technologies:

Television Studio

  • 4 x studio connection panels, mounted in wall-boxes
  • 6 x auditorium broadcast connection panels
  • Fixed lighting rig, wall-mounted lighting desk with control connection panel
  • Triple cyclorama track with full height curtains
  • 42" in-vision, high resolution plasma display
  • 21" LCD display monitor with interface to talkback system and mixing desk
  • 5 x TV cameras for Triax operation with colour 5" studio view finders
  • Pan/tilt head for studio camera, lens and pedestal
  • Radio and studio floor microphones and time code clock

Television Gallery

  • Control desk within bespoke furniture incorporating operational positions including vision mixer/control, sound control, ingest/ outgest and VT, graphics, Producer/Director
