When Pinsent Masons made the decision to move from two locations in Manchester to a single city centre building, proAV was asked to deliver an extensive, high quality audio visual solution to meet the organisations conferencing, presentation and meeting requirements.

Pinsent Mason is now based at Three Hardman Street, a landmark building set in the heart of Manchester’s landmark Spinningfield development and which is now one of Europe’s largest and most impressive financial and professional services districts.

A wide range of audio visual facilities were incorporated into this world class solution, including full video conferencing and projection systems, multimedia presentation and training facilities, digital displays, audio systems, TV distribution and IT office monitoring systems.

The AV solution formed part of a unique interior design scheme that extends throughout the 35,000 square feet of prime office space on the top two floors of Three Hardman Street. The award-winning international architecture and design practice, HKR Architects, created a visually outstanding working environment to reflect Pinsent Masons’ progressive approach to delivering professional legal services.

proAV designed an innovative audio visual scheme incorporating some of the world’s most groundbreaking AV technologies to complement the stunning interior and highly functional workspace.

A wide range of meeting rooms, including a series of glass-walled meeting pods, a versatile seminar suite with dual functionality, a training room and The War Room, an impressive presentation and video conferencing facility were equipped with industry leading AV communication and presentation facilities. The client reception/waiting area and staff deli/restaurant were fitted with display equipment and a TV distribution and IT office monitoring system were designed to distribute content over Pinsent Masons’ structured network cabling.

3-4 Person Meeting Rooms

6 x 3-4 person meeting rooms located on the 11th and 12th floors were each equipped with the following:

  • 32” HD LCD display screen
  • Input sources including TV and laptop PC

6 Person Meeting Pods

3 x 6 person glass walled meeting pods located on 11th and 12th floors were each equipped with the following:

  • 42” plasma display screen, ceiling mounted
  • Input sources including TV and flush mounted ceiling speakers

The War Room

A meeting room for internal presentations and intra-company video conferencing communications:

  • 42” plasma display screen
  • Video conferencing system
  • Inputs sources including laptop PC and TV
  • Control via 8.4” portable LCD touch screen controller with management of plasma, audio, signal switching and video conferencing system

Staff Deli/Restaurant

  • 50” HD plasma screen with connection to TV distribution system

IT Training Room

A training room located on the 12th floor and used for internal IT training:

  • WXGA resolution projector, 16:9 aspect ratio, 3000 ANSI lumens with internal speaker
  • 212 x 153mm, 16:9 projection screen
  • Input sources including tutor PC and auxiliary video

Seminar Suite - Meeting Rooms 1, 2 and 3

The largest meeting space is located on the 12th floor and is divided by flexible partitions to create a flexible space with each section able to function as a standalone presentation facility and each with supporting audio visual systems.

In large room mode:

  • 4200 ANSI lumen, 16:9 aspect ratio projector, ceiling mounted
  • 290x163mm, 16:9 ceiling recessed, electric projection screen
  • HD video conferencing system
  • Plasma relay from Room 1 with connection to Room 3
  • DSP (Digital Sound Processor) audio system incorporating programme sound, voice reinforcement and induction loop facilities
  • Input sources including networked PC, laptop PC and TV
  • Control system including 8.4”portable touchscreen with full management over equipment in both large room and individual seminar room modes
  • Bespoke lectern with LCD monitor and microphone and AV connectivity

In single room mode:

  • 50” HD plasma screen, wall mounted
  • Audio system incorporating i-ceiling speakers
  • Input sources including laptop PC, TV and iPod dock
  • Control via touchpanel (full room mode unit) and wall mounted control panel (Rooms 2 and 3)

Client Reception/Waiting Area

  • 50” HD plasma screen, wall mounted
  • Input sources including digital signage system and TV
  • Audio system incorporating flush mounted ceiling speakers
  • Media player

Meeting Room 5

Meeting Rooms 7, 8 and 9

  • DSP audio system incorporating programme sound, voice reinforcement and induction loop facilities
  • Control via 8.4” desk mounted touchpanel

Meeting Rooms 15 and 16

The main client-facing video conferencing suites were each equipped with the following:

  • Dual 42” HD plasma screens, wall-mounted in side-by-side configuration
  • HD video conferencing system with 2-way interactive system in full room mode
  • Input sources including laptop PC
  • Audio system incorporating flush mounted ceiling speakers
  • Control via 5.7”desk mounted wireless LCD touchpanel

TV Distribution and IT Office Monitoring systems

  • TV distribution and IT office monitoring systems were delivered as part of this comprehensive AV solution and were based around the Cabletime MediaStar system. The system facilitates the distribution of TV and video channels across the structured network cabling in the building and incorporates Sky box and decoders that are controlled by the IT department via the IR feedback system, which forms part of the MediaStar unit and using Crestron controls to switch between defined stations.
