Middlesbrough College opened in September 2008 with an objective to offer an exciting learning environment for 14-19 year old students with wider participation for the City's community. The college is a key component of education, training, leisure, culture and lifestyle of the people of Middlesbrough and it provides high-quality training services in catering, music, theatre, sports, computing, business, engineering, construction and more.

proAV was asked to deliver extensive professional audio visual systems for use throughout Middlesbrough College. A wide range of teaching, presentation, conferencing and networked distribution systems at this new college required an innovative solution throughout that met the demands of teachers, students and the wider community who can access the facilities.

An integrated AV solution was delivered on time, within budget and according to specification. The project comprised sophisticated audio visual equipment that incorporated the industry's latest cutting-edge technology, including high-impact display systems, high-end mobile video conferencing, lecture and multimedia presentation facilities.

The facility for a building-wide IPTV distribution system was also installed together with a dynamic digital signage network designed to manage displays from a central location.

The result is an outstanding range of world class technologies and equipment that have helped Middlesbrough College deliver a more accessible and interactive experience for everyone who uses the college facilities.

Interactive Whiteboards

55 No. interactive whiteboards with integrated short throw projectors were installed in various teaching rooms and comprise:

• 33 x 64" wall-mounted interactive whiteboards with software, amp and speakers and content driven by LCD multimedia projector
• 22 x 78" wall-mounted interactive whiteboards with software, amp and speakers and content driven by LCD multimedia projector

Teacher Workstation Desks

• 110 x teacher workstation desks with pedestal mounted cupboard to house PC and AV equipment

Digital Signage

• Cross-campus Cabletime Mediastar Evolution digital signage system to enable distribution of TV and content via LAN infrastructure with multiple displays managed from a single point
• 25 x digital signage receivers with multi-format IPTV decoder and multimedia player

Display Screens

• 20 x 42" plasma display screens installed in various locations, including Information Services, Travel Shop, Meeting Room, fitness rooms, bistro and communal areas

Audio Reinforcement System

• 54 x ceiling-mounted PA loudspeaker
• UHF wireless microphone system including handheld mic

Lecture Theatre (95 seat)

• XGA, 4000 ANSI projector with 1.65-1.95:1 lens
• 2750 x 2750mm electric projection screen
• 15" LCD Active Panel with stylus, visualiser, rail-mounted flip chart and writing board
• Programme sound/voice reinforcement systems including 2 x loudspeaker cabinets, 6 x ceiling-mounted speakers, UHF wireless microphone system with handheld mic and lectern mic
• Video input sources including DVD player and VCR recorder
• Bespoke lectern and angled lectern return furniture with lighting
• All input sources controlled by a touch screen controller
