The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a world class centre renowned for its teaching and research expertise which covers the full range of social, political and economic sciences. The LSE was founded in 1895 and has an outstanding worldwide reputation for academic excellence.

When LSE made the decision to enhance its vast teaching and broadcast facilities, proAV specified an extensive audio visual system for a new building on the Lincoln's Inn Fields campus, set on the largest public square in London.

In addition to enhancing four substantial lecture theatres and associated control areas and a large number of classrooms of various sizes, the new AV solution needed to accommodate the broadcast requirements of the press who are invited to record guest speakers.

An integrated suite of sophisticated audio visual equipment that incorporated the industry's latest technologies and provided an intuitive, accessible solution that users could operate at every point on the system was installed. AV equipment with standardised sources and professional presentation solutions were installed within every teaching space, including lecture theatres and classrooms.

This innovative solution was delivered throughout key areas over three floors of the new building on time, within budget and in accordance with the recommended specification.

A number of specialist areas were equipped with professional AV technologies, including:

Main Lecture Theatre (400 seat) including Control Room and Green Room

• TeamMate Tutor lectern system with 12" Crestron touch panel, system controller and media transmitter
• Gooseneck and RF microphones
• Audio system including amplifier, DSP audio matrix, ceiling microphones and speakers, manual mixing desk, monitor/ programme/foldback speakers, table/lapel radio/hand radio microphones and induction loop driver and base station
• High brightness projectors, vision mixer, matrix switchers, PTZ cameras and controllers, video conferencing, preview monitors, HD DVD/BluRay player and PC

Medium Lecture Theatre (130 seat)

• TeamMate Tutor lectern system with 12" Crestron touch panel, system controller, lectern microphone and radio microphone
• Audio system including amplifier, ceiling/programme speakers, microphone mixer, lapel radio mic and induction loop driver
• High brightness projectors, projection screen, visualiser, matrix switchers, PTZ camera and controller, DVD/VHS combi player and PC
